Introduction

Heric Engineering & Assessors was established in 2013 after thorough market research on skills shortages within the engineering and artisan market segment in South Africa.

At Heric Engineering we believe in empowerment through knowledge. We strive to provide very high-level practical skills and theoretical training to ensure that each learner at Heric Engineering has the ability to make a difference in his/her workplace and community. We strive to be the best in the business by using expert, accredited subject matter facilitators, assessors and moderators.

Range of Training Offered

In addition to formal artisan training we are totally committed to customize training to the specific operational requirements of customers, trainability assessments, pre-employment assessments, trade test readiness assessments, short courses, trade test and P1 Experiential Training as well as ARPL section 28 Section 26D preparation).

Technical Training Strengths

Training is intensive with each apprentice being able to take advantage of what is effectively a one-on-one training situation.  This newly constructed, yet well-equipped facility can take in 20 apprentices at a time. By limiting its apprentice intake, Heric Engineering ensures its training is of unmatched quality, service and cost.

Professional Training Facilitators

Our training subject matter experts have built up a wealth of training and knowledge during work experience in the industries.

Facilitator:

  • Facilitators are qualified artisans with minimum of 3-year experience in the specific field
  • Facilitators train students according to SAQA Unit Standards / QCTO Curriculum
  • Facilitators ensure that all specific outcomes per module are covered during the training schedule and they use MerSETA Training Material
  • Facilitators are responsible for all formative assessments as well as memorandums thereof.
  • Facilitators ensure that all attendance registers and record keeping are up to date
  • Facilitators are responsible for the theoretical part as well as the practical part in the workshop
  • The facilitator ensure that all equipment and machinery meet the requirement of the specific module and Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • The facilitator prepares the students for the summative assessment after the module has been completed.
Assessor:

  • The assessors ensure that all evidence is presented in portfolios
  • The assessor ensure that all specific outcomes are covered in the modules
  • The assessor must have a pre-assessment meeting with all the students to discuss the assessment process as well as the criteria
  • The assessor is responsible for the final summative assessment at the end of each module
  • The assessor is responsible for the summative assessment with the memorandum thereof
  • The assessor must cover the specific outcomes for the theoretical and practical part of the module
  • The assessor is responsible for all the learners’ portfolios
  • The assessor must ensure that all signatures has been signed by the relevant persons
Moderator:

  • Moderator must ensure that the correct procedure has been followed by the assessor
  • Moderator must ensure that the quality requirement of training has been met as per module
  • Moderator must ensure that an Assessors report is available
  • Moderator report must be also available

Quality Auditor:

  • Quality auditor ensure that the quality after qualification meet the requirement of the specific SETA
  • Quality auditor invites the verifier of the specific SETA to verify the portfolios according the requirements of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties
Verifier:

  • Verifier verify the portfolios of the registered learners
  • The verifier submits the final judgement to the specific SETA 

All learners/apprentices are trained and assessed accordingly to the QCTO / SAQA requirements.  Apprentices will complete a logbook.  All tests and training materials are in line with QCTO, SETA and NAMB standards.

Employers will receive monthly progress reports and attendance registers at the monthly management meeting.  We also have an annual awards ceremony where we award our Apprentices for their performance through-out their training period.  We also assist with the Apprentice Contracts and if the Company needs workplace approval we notify and arrange with QCTO, MerSETA and other SETAS to conduct the site visits and approval.

Training material development

  • Heric Engineering & Assessors make use of approved learning materials.
  • The learning material is in line with the SAQA’s unit standards / QCTO Curriculums. When the SETA does not have learning material for a specific SAQA Unit Standard, our Curriculum designer develops the learner material according to the SAQA Unit Standard or the QCTO Curriculum and the learning material must be approved after development before implementation.
